Involuntary Manslaughter

Involuntary manslaughter refers to the unlawful causing of another person's death in the absence of any intention to kill or to cause grievous bodily harm. 

Involuntary manslaughter falls into two broad categories: 

1. manslaughter caused by an unlawful and dangerous act; and 

2. manslaughter caused by gross negligence (involving a breach of duty or recklessness).
