a. Owners of affected flats

The registered owner of the flat suffering from water seepage is usually the proper plaintiff. This is because the owner has the legal interest in the property and is entitled to claim for damage to the flat, reinstatement costs, loss of use, cost of alternative accommodation arrangements and other related losses.

If the affected flat is jointly owned, for example by spouses or family members, all registered owners should normally be joined as co-plaintiffs.
