The offence of reproducing Hong Kong currency notes
Under section 103 of the Crimes Ordinance (Cap. 200), if a person reproduces any Hong Kong currency note or any part of it without the consent of the Monetary Authority, he would be committing an offence and liable to maximum imprisonment of 6 months and a fine of HK$20,000.
It is immaterial whether a person reproduces on what substance or whether the reproduction is to the correct scale. Even if there is no intention to pass or deliver the reproduction as genuine, the person may still be held liable.
