7. Does a parent who is granted sole custody of his/her children need to consult the other parent before making decisions for their children?

Yes. The non-custodial parent still has the right to be consulted on all matters affecting the child, especially major decisions relating to the child’s future, health, education, and religion. Therefore, the parent who is granted sole custody of his/her child should consult the other parent before making big decisions for their children (PD v KWW [2010] 5 HKC 543 at §§38-39).
