F. Import and export of dead bodies / exhumed remains / cremated ashes
Dead bodies
If you wish to transport the deceased out of Hong Kong, you must apply for a “Permit for the Removal of a Dead Body from Hong Kong” (free of charge) and a certified copy of a death entry (commonly known as “death certificate”) at the Death Registry. You also need permission from the authorities in the place to which you are transporting the deceased and obtain an embalming certificate from a professional embalmer recognised by the local consulate or laws and regulations who has embalmed the deceased. You can seek permission through the relevant embassy or consulate. You will need to make private arrangements for the transportation of the deceased out of Hong Kong. Exhumed remains
